MTBO
MTBO - mountain bike orienteering
Sunday 29th March 3 hour MTBO rogaine in Riverhead Forest.
Start time 11am from Ararimu Valley Road which is off Old North Rd on on the western side of Riverhead forest.
This is the first use of this area for 4 years, and the map has changed heaps in that time, so will be like a new area to most.
Saturday 2nd May Slater Road on the South Head Peninsula 10 minutes from Parakai
3 Courses( long/medium/short) Starts from 11 am.
Saturday 16th May Waiuku hopefully, otherwise Slater Road.
As above with 3 courses.
Costs are $20 per event, and $10 for juniors and unwaged.
Special event 31st January: 3 or 6 hour MTB Rogaine based at Colville with a warmdown MTB race the following day.
This rogaine is based on the popular Cyclic Saga held in March in the South Island, and commonly known as Polaris events in Britain. This will be a real adventure, and there will be a choice of 38 controls to navigate to using a map with many corrections, to make it as accurate as possible and will be based on a normal Topographical scale map with 1:50,000 scale and 20 metre contours see www.arcevents.co.nz under White Star.
If you are aiming for the ARC adventure race this will be excellent practice.
A mapboard of some description is extremely useful as is a compass.
